Review requests for multi-product orders: how FiveX sends one email per order per campaign

When one order contains multiple products, FiveX sends a maximum of one review email per order, per campaign. Here is exactly how it works, with seven common scenarios and campaign timing explained.

If you sell on bol.com or Amazon, you know how valuable product reviews are. More reviews can improve product visibility, build customer trust, increase conversion rates, and ultimately generate more sales.

FiveX helps automate review request emails, but what happens when one order contains multiple products? Will the customer receive one email for every product, or just one email for the entire order? And what happens when the products are connected to different campaigns?

Here is how it works.

The core rule

FiveX sends a maximum of one email per order, per campaign.

When the first eligible product in an order triggers a campaign, the other products from that same order are skipped for that campaign. This means the customer receives one clear email instead of multiple identical messages.

Why this matters

If a customer buys three products in one order, they should not receive three identical review requests from the same seller. Sending multiple emails can feel intrusive, affect your sender reputation, and increase unsubscribe rates.

Limiting communication to one email per order per campaign keeps your review requests professional and customer-friendly.

Common scenarios

Scenario 1: All products are linked to the same campaign

An order contains three products, and all three are linked to the same review campaign.

Result: 1 email

The first eligible product triggers the campaign. The remaining products are skipped for that campaign.

Scenario 2: Each product is linked to a different campaign

An order contains three products, with each product linked to a separate campaign.

Result: 3 emails

Each campaign is evaluated independently, so one email can be sent from each campaign.

Scenario 3: Products are divided between multiple campaigns

Two products are linked to Campaign A, while one product is linked to Campaign B.

Result: 2 emails

FiveX sends one email for Campaign A and one email for Campaign B.

Scenario 4: Only one product is linked to a campaign

An order contains three products, but only one is linked to a review campaign.

Result: 1 email

The linked product triggers the campaign. The unlinked products are ignored.

Scenario 5: The same customer places three separate orders

A customer places three orders on the same day, and all products are linked to the same campaign.

Result: 3 emails

The rule applies per order rather than per customer. Each order is evaluated separately.

Scenario 6: A product is returned before the campaign is triggered

A product is returned three days after shipment, while the review campaign has a seven-day delay.

Result: 0 emails

Because the product was returned before the campaign's scheduled send time, it is excluded from the review request.

Scenario 7: Products come from different sales channels

An order includes products associated with bol.com Netherlands, bol.com Belgium, and Amazon, while the standard campaign applies only to bol.com.

Result: 1 email

Only the eligible bol.com products are considered. Amazon order lines are excluded from standard campaigns because Amazon review requests require InMail.

How campaign timing works

ShipmentShipment date + configured delayReview requests
ReturnReturn date, usually with no delayReturn follow-up messages

Best practices

  1. Link products to one review campaign if you want customers to receive a single review request per order.
  2. Use separate campaigns only when you intentionally want different customer touchpoints.
  3. Use InMail for Amazon orders, as standard FiveX campaigns exclude Amazon order lines.
  4. Always send a test email and verify the campaign settings before activating it.
